September 8, 2008 - Belated congratulations to Bill Shiba, who has been named University of Arizona Director of Unions and assumed his duties July 1. Bill has 29 years of experience at the UA in retail and dining services, financial management and student development. He has held leadership positions in the Association of College Unions International (ACU-I) and is currently the Past President of NACAS West.
September 4, 2008 - ARAMARK Volunteers to Revitalize Boston's Elizabeth Peabody House
ARAMARK today announced that Boston will be the next stop on the ARAMARK Building Community national tour, an initiative that will enhance community centers and create long-term commitments with community centers in 30 cities over the next year. ARAMARK has teamed up with the Elizabeth Peabody House, a non-profit organization that provides a broad array of servcies addressing family needs in the city of Somerville and the surrounding Boston community, to participate in a day of service and refurbishment.
September 3, 2008 - Virginia Tech Police Department honored with 2008 Governor's Award for Teamwork
The Virginia Tech Police Department was recently honored by the Commonwealth of Virginia with the 2008 Governor's Award for Teamwork. The department was recognized for its extraordinary teamwork following the tragic events of April 16, 2007. Each year, the Governor's Award for Teamwork is presented to a group of state employees who consistently exhibit the qualities that make teamwork essential to an agency's success, including coordination of efforts to produce quality service or innovative results.
July 15, 2008 - Andrelino Cardoso has joined the University Memorial Center (UMC) team at the University of Colorado at Boulder as their new Food Service Director. Andrelina will oversee all aspects of the UMC Food Service which include self-operated retail restaurants, private food vendors, catering, and alcohol beverage sale management. Andrelino most recently served as Senior Food Service Director at Georgetown University. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics from Berea College, Berea, KY.
July 10, 2008 - Eddie Mills, NACAS South President Elect and Assistant Director of Business Services at Florida State, is a father! Kelly Anne Mills was born Thursday, July 10 at 1:18 pm by c-section. She weighed in at 7 lbs. 6 oz. and 20 5/8 in long. Congratulations to Eddie and his family!
July 9, 2008 - NACAS member Deborah Adishian-Astone has received the 2008 NACUBO Rising Star Award. Deborah is the Associate Vice President, Auxiliary Operations and Enterprise Development at California State University-Fresno. Congratulations Deborah!
July 9, 2008 - NACAS CEO Dr. Bob Hassmiller renewed his Certified Association Executive (CAE) status, a distinction shared by less than 5% of association professionals. Congratulations to Bob for all his hard work!
July 3, 2008 - Retired NACAS Member Don Runyon is a grandfather! Owen David Runyon was born July 3 at 9:56 pm, at 20 inches long and 10 lbs. 1 oz. Congratulations to Don and his family!
July 2, 2008 - Virginia Tech Fleet Services Adds Hybrid Vehicles to Rental Fleet
Virginia Tech Fleet Services added four hybrid vehicles to its rental fleet on June 16, 2008. The additions reflect an effort to further advance the university's commitments to sustainability and to further improve the overall fuel efficiency of the rental car fleet.

July 1, 2008 - Lexington, KY - Responding to the changes in its members’ roles on college and university campuses, ACUTA today formally announced its name change, becoming the Association for Information Communications Technology Professionals in Higher Education. Addition of the word “Information” in the name reflects the evolving roles that ACUTA members play in their institutions, as they manage the converging voice and data networks that are the foundation for all the communications that take place on campus.
