improved the Association and auxiliary services. Review the awards

Member Awards & Scholarships
NEW - Committee
Member of the Year Award
This award recognizes a member who has demonstrated exceptional work
on a committee that supports the NACAS mission. This individual
will have maintained continuity of the goals of the group by keeping the
members focused on tasks assigned to the committee and exceeded the
requirements of a member to make certain that all deadlines have been
met and tasks have been accomplished.
Eligibility
This award is open to all non-officer members in a recognized
committee, task force, or specially appointed groups of NACAS.
Members of the Awards Recognition Committee and staff liaisons are not
eligible to receive this award.
Criteria
The nominee should be:
- Current individual member, institution or business partner in good
standing.
- Current member of a recognized NACAS committee, task force, or
specially appointed group.
- Nominated in letterform from a committee chair or fellow committee
member detailing the initiatives that qualify the nominee.
- Recognized for the amount and quality of work given to one
committee, not necessarily the length of service.
Selection Process
- Nominations will be evaluated by the Awards Committee.
- Submissions should include: completed nomination form and a
separate written statement addressing how the nominee has met the
criteria.
Award
The winner will be recognized at the Annual Conference and will be
featured in the NACAS magazine, College Services.

Emerging Professional Scholarship

|
This award recognizes one individual in an auxiliary service unit or
central management organization who has the potential to assume
progressively more senior auxiliary management responsibilities.
|
Eligibility
Any employee of a NACAS member institution with three or more years
of experience in a department or unit responsible for auxiliary service
delivery, or as a junior staff member in an auxiliary central management
organization. Self nominations welcome.
|
Criteria
- Be a current individual member, institution or Business Partner
in good standing
- Contributes to the success of the auxiliary services department of
the institution
- Potential for professional advancement
|
Selection Process
-
Nominations will be evaluated by the Awards Committee.

Submissions should include: Completed nomination form; Written
statement by a senior auxiliary service professional addressing the
criteria; Written statement of support from the institution’s
Chief Executive Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Administrative
Officer or Chief Student Affairs Officer.

Award
Winner will receive complimentary Annual Conference registration but
must cover other costs of participation (travel, hotel room nights,
etc).

Emeritus Award
NACAS would like to recognize all those members who are retiring from
their position and starting a life away from the hectic world of higher
education.
Eligibility
The Emeritus Award honors those members who have served the
profession of Auxiliary Services and are retiring within the fiscal year
of the conference. This is a non-competitive award to identify members
who have honored NACAS through the years. While all other award
nominations should be submitted by July 15, 2010, Emeritus
Award Nominations will be accepted up until October 11, 2010.
Self nominations welcome.
Criteria
Nominee should:
- Be a current individual member, institution or Business Partner
in good standing
- Contribute over a minimum period of 10 years to the cumulative
knowledge and stature of the profession
- Be retiring within the fiscal year of which the conference
falls
Selection Process

Nominations will be evaluated by the Awards Committee.

Submissions should include: Completed nomination form
; Written statement addressing how the nominee has met the
criteria; The number of years the nominee served higher education
and/or auxiliary services; List of schools at which the nominee
served

Golden Award
|

The Golden Award was established in 1992 in honor of Edwin
R. "Bob" Golden for his foresight in acknowledging the need for
attention to issues of cultural diversity in the Association. The
purpose of the award is to recognize outstanding campus leadership,
activities and/or programs promoting cultural awareness and inclusion.
This award recognizes exemplary and outstanding service to cultural
awareness in the profession of college auxiliary management and the
promotion of inclusion in an on-going fashion, through leadership in the
areas of cultural diversity and equality.

Eligibility
Any current individual member, institution or Business Partner in
good standing. Self nominations welcome.
|
Criteria
Nominee should:
- Be a current individual member, institution or Business Partner
in good standing
- Exemplify exemplary and outstanding service to cultural awareness in
the profession of college auxiliary management
- Promote inclusiveness in an on-going fashion, through leadership in
the areas of cultural diversity and equality
- Provide written documentation of a change or increased diversity on
campus/in company.

Selection Process
-
Nominations will be evaluated by the Cultural Diversity
Committee.
Submissions should include a completed nomination form and a description
of the impact on campus. Backup documentation is welcome.

Self-nominations are welcome.

No more than three awards will be given in any one year. This award
is not necessarily an annual award. The committee will recommend a
recipient only in the case of exemplary and outstanding service.

Winners will be invited to present an educational breakout
session at the Annual Conference if topic allows for a 75 minute
presentation format.

Innovative Achievement in Auxiliary
Services Award
|
|
The Innovative Achievement Award recognizes imaginative and
unique quality of product, service or program, enhancement of customer
service, the generation of additional revenue or reduction of costs,
adaptability for other institutions, and overall presentation
quality. Self nominations welcome.
This award is sponsored by American Campus Communities.
|
Criteria
- Be a current individual member, institution or Business Partner
in good standing
- Imaginative/unique quality of product, service or program
- Documented enhancement of customer service
- Generation of additional revenue or reduction of costs
- Adaptability for other institutions
- Overall presentation quality

Selection Process

Nominations will be evaluated by the Awards Committee.

Submissions should include a completed nomination form and a
written description of the program or project, not to exceed five pages
of descriptive data. Supporting documentation should include statistics
or data showing the impact of the innovative service or program to
campus. Please include a brief summary (one to two paragraphs) of your
report.

Award
One individual from the winning institution will receive a
complimentary Annual Conference registration, airfare reimbursement up
to $500, and complimentary hotel accommodations at the conference hotel
up to 4 nights.
Winners will be featured in the NACAS magazine, College
Services, and will be invited to present an
educational breakout session at the Annual Conference if topic allows
for a 75 minute presentation format.

Outstanding Business Partner of the Year
Award
|
|
This award is presented to the companies which have made particularly
noteworthy contributions to NACAS member institutions and to the
auxiliary services profession.
|
Eligibility
Any NACAS Business Partner in good standing. Self Nominations
welcome.
|
Criteria
- Be a current individual member, institution or Business Partner
in good standing
- Embodiment, on a daily basis, of the ideals of outstanding customer
service and support of the educational process at NACAS
institutions.
|
Selection Process
- Two winners may be selected each year – one company with a
regional presence and one with a national presence.
- Nominations will be evaluated by the Business Partner
Committee.
- Submissions should include a completed nomination form and a written
statement addressing how the nominee has met the criteria.

Award
Winner will be recognized at the Annual Conference and will be
featured in the NACAS magazine, College Services.

Regional Mentor Awards
|
| This award recognizes a member in each region who has shown
initiative in welcoming newcomers and promoting/encouraging involvement
of members at the regional/national level. |
|
Eligibility
Any employee of a member institution or Business Partner in good
standing who is not an officer, director or Board member at the regional
or national level. Self nominations welcome.
|
|
Criteria
- Participation at the regional level, rising above the call of duty
to welcome new or potential members
- Promote involvement in NACAS at regional or national level
|
|
Selection Process
-
Nominations will be evaluated by the Regional Board of Directors
of the nominee's region.

Submissions should include a completed nomination form and a
written statement addressing how the nominee has met the criteria.

Award
Winners will be recognized at their respective Regional Breakfasts at
the Annual Conference.

Robert F. Newton Award for Distinguished
Service
|
|
The Robert F. Newton Award for Distinguished Service is the
most prestigious award recognizing an individual who has displayed
extraordinary and outstanding service to NACAS and to the
profession. The recipient will have contributed over a minimum of
10 years to the cumulative knowledge and stature of the profession; have
promoted the auxiliary services profession through NACAS and/or the
regional associations in an on-going fashion; established him/herself as
an effective leader within the auxiliary services field; served as an
example to others in the profession; and provided significant
contributions to NACAS through committee assignments, chairing
committees, and/or service on the national or regional boards. Other
contributions such as awards received and literary credits to the
profession are also considered in the selection process.

Eligibility
Any current, retired or retiring employee of a member institution or
Business Partner in good standing.
|
Criteria
Nominee should:
- Be a current individual member, institution or Business Partner
in good standing
- Contribute over a minimum period of 10 years to the cumulative
knowledge and stature of the profession.
- Promote the auxiliary services profession through NACAS and/or
the Regional Associations in an on-going fashion, establishing
him/herself as an effective leader within the auxiliary services field
and serving as an example to others in the profession.
- Provide significant contributions to NACAS through committee
assignments, committee chairships, and/or service on the national or
regional boards.
- Other items such as awards received, literary contributions to the
profession, etc., are also considered in selecting the recipient.

Award
The announcement of the award remains confidential until the Annual
Conference. The recipient of the award will have his/her name added to
the National Office plaque, may attend all NACAS activities at member
rates, including after retirement, and receives a complimentary
subscription to all NACAS publications continuing into retirement.

Silver Torch Award
|
|
This award recognizes and honors retired or retiring members who have
had a continuing positive influence on the Association and the
profession. While all other award nominations should be submitted
by July 15, 2010, Silver Torch Nominations will be
accepted up until October 11, 2010.

Eligibility
Any employee of a member institution or Business Partner in good
standing who retires during the conference year. Self nominations
welcome.
|
Criteria
- Contributes to NACAS and to the auxiliary services profession
through leadership and service at the regional and/or national
level.
- Provide written documentation of impact on campus/in company as
a result of nominee's influence.
|
Selection Process
-
Nominations will be evaluated by the Awards Committee.

Submissions should include a completed nomination form, date of
retirement, brief biography, description of NACAS participation and
contributions to the profession.

Self nominations are welcome.

This award is not necessarily an annual award. The committee will
recommend a recipient or recipients only when the retiree is noted to
have enhanced the credibility and prestige of NACAS.

Multiple recipients will be considered to receive the award each
year.

Award
Winners will be recognized at the Annual Conference and will receive
a complimentary subscription to all NACAS publications.

Technology Award
|
|
This award recognizes Auxiliary Services Departments of NACAS members
that use technology creatively in improving services to customers.
This award is sponsored by Shop24.
|
Eligibility
Any institutional member of NACAS. Two awards will be given
– one for institutions with 7,000 students or fewer, and one for
institutions with more than 7,000 students.
|
Criteria
- Be an institutional member of NACAS.
- Explain how new technology was implemented in Auxiliary Services and
the improvement it was intended to provide.
- Demonstrate the improvement that came about as a result of
implementation.
|
Selection Process
-
Nominations will be evaluated by the Awards Committee.

Institutions should self-nominate.
-
Submissions should include: Written statement by a senior
auxiliary services professional addressing the criteria; pictures or
other substantiating documentation.

Preference will be given to programs which had a substantial customer
impact and applied technology creatively to solving a specific service
issue.

Award
The two winning institutions will be offered an opportunity to
present their programs at the NACAS Annual Conference, with one
complimentary registration offered to each winning institution.
Winners must cover the other costs of Conference participation such as
airfare, hotel, and miscellaneous travel expenses.

NEW - Volunteer
of NACAS Award
This award recognizes a member of NACAS who has demonstrated being an
exceptional “volunteer” at the regional and/or national
level. Nominees for this award should be individuals that have
reached out to meet others in the organization, unselfishly worked with
others to improve the Association and its mission, and performed
services or tasks that are not part of their normal assignments.
Eligibility
Be a current individual member, institution or business partner in
good standing. Nominee shall not be a regional or national
officer in any capacity.
Criteria
Be nominated by a peer or supervisor in letterform citing at least
three examples of why this individual has been nominated. For
example, the letter could include how the nominee has volunteered their
time or skills to improve the awareness of NACAS to others; garnered
involvement from non-member institutions or business partners; written
material in a NACAS regional or national publication; or provided
assistance in the planning, promotion or hosting of a regional or
national event.
Selection Process
- Nominations will be evaluated by the Awards Committee.
- Submissions should include a completed nomination form and a
separate written statement addressing how the nominee has met the
criteria. More than one accompanying support statement is
permitted.
Award
A winner from each region will be recognized at the NACAS Annual
Conference Regional Breakfasts.
