Purdue University Calumet has a method of determining which departments are most effective in retaining/graduating student workers. They have researched why some departments are more effective. Green Your Campus: Creating a Culture of Sustainability...Theory and Practice

An insider's view on the culture of sustainability that permeates the University of Vermont, recently named one of America's Greenest Campuses by Forbes.com. This conference is designed to foster a dialogue on the role of sustainability in the design, delivery, and evaluation of Auxiliary Services.
This tour-intensive program will focus on the efforts throughout UVM to weave sustainability into every aspect of university operations:
- dining services (board, retail, and convenience stores)
- transportation
- recycling/solid waste programs, green cleaning
- LEED standards in construction
- environmental management systems
- residential peer education for sustainability
All participants will receive a copy of "Degrees that Matter" by Ann Rappaport and Sarah Hammond Creighton, courtesy of College Store Design. Participants are asked to dress for comfort during walking tours. Though a conference notebook will be provided, in the interest of reducing paper waste, handouts will be sent electronically after the conference.

The NACAS Institute for Managers I is an intensive learning experience incorporating group project presentations, small group discussions and seminars. The Institute is designed for managers new to generalist auxiliary services positions and those in management positions in operational areas who want to gain a broader perspective on auxiliary services in higher education.
