Program Abstract:

In 2006, the administration said either change the food service operation and make it into a viable and successful operation or outsource it. In 2011 the food service operation at SLCC is thriving and has received accolades from the administration and many others who were longtime critics. What changed? How did it change? The success story begins and continues with creating/recreating a culture of success.

In this session, you will learn how Georgia Tech uses both online and mobile technology to manage the offering of academically licensed products, special event tickets, course registrations, shuttle reservations and even serve midnight breakfast. Maximizing the Impact: How New Student Housing was Planned and Delivered at Colorado State University Pueblo

Program Abstract:

Colorado State University - Pueblo will be examined as a case study in how a primarily commuter campus can plan and deliver new student housing to support enrollment and student life goals. Attendees will learn about CSU - Pueblo's motivation for expanding its campus housing, the planning process it employed, how it implemented that process and worked with third-parties to deliver and finance 750-beds of new campus housing. Finally, we will examine enrollment and retention outcomes. Attendees will discuss their campus circumstances and methods for involving housing in a broader campus change process.

 

Learning Outcomes:

  • Learn how Colorado State University - Pueblo tackled their need to increase revenue, increase out-of-state students, and increase sophomore retention by significantly increasing its quality campus housing options.
  • Learn how new housing has made a difference at Colorado State University - Pueblo (enrollment 6,400) and understand the steps any school can take to experience similar success.

Environmental Stewardship GROWING at the University of Vermont

(Pending input from Allen Josey) As the first LEED rated student center in the country, the Davis Center at the University of Vermont has continued to "grow" and change the way the building is used and the programs that it supports to enhance the student experience and understanding of the University's mission regarding environmental stewardship. Examples of the types of changes at UVM will be presented to inform and inspire others toward greater heights.

  • Learn about a variety of efforts being taken to truly lead the way on being environmental stewards when it comes to facility management, from physical plant and custodial practices to ongoing and ever expanding passive and active programming efforts.

In light of today's uncertain economic times, the ability to sustain (much less enhance) current auxiliary-based revenue streams, service delivery models, operational efficiences, etc. is proving more challenging than ever. With a renewed focus on innovation and collaboration, strategic Public-Private Partnerships (P3) have become an integral component of Texas A&M's business philisophy. This session will provide an overview of the foundational P3's implemented at Texas A&M, to include: bookstore operations, dining services, real estate development, athletic sponsorship, and facilities.

  • Attendees will gain insight as to the specific steps and assessment decisions made by A&M in pursuing P3's.
